March build of sbs1xxx is almost ready

I know I promised to publish it a few days ago, but as most of you know that I'm rather busy and sometimes random things just get into my way so it had to be delayed. I've already sent out the new build for testing to a few individuals and I hope to get some feedback soon. Windows build is also coming this time, but it is not really tested.

Below is a list of changes/fixes included in the new release:

  • Big Endian platforms are now supported ( ARM, PowerPC )
  • Position decoding now works correctly for western parts of the world ( still hoping to get some more recordings for debugging )
  • Fixed a bug in multi-threaded console syncing which might have caused a possible output data loss.
  • Recordings now include endianess marker so they can be used on all platforms later on.
  • Fixed data grouping/buffering problem which caused data to fall on ~ 2 second boundaries.

What's planned for the April:

  • Support for newly added TIS-B / TCAS functionality - SBS1er only
  • VHF/UHF radio control and decoding application for MacOSX ( Linux might come later )
  • Automated nightly build system for UNIX platforms only

I'll be also working on a few ADS-B related projects but I can't say much more for now as I'm trying not to make promises that can't be kept :) not anymore...

Windows build availability

I've received quite a few requests for the Windows build of SBS-1 Utilities. Unfortunately, I am not able to provide it at the moment as I am not at home and I do not have a working Windows development environment on my laptop. Please give me some more time until I come back to Krakow and I will try to provide it asap.

New version of SBS1 Utilities finally available!

It's been more than a year since I promised the next release of SBS1 utilities. I know most of you are disappointed, but I hope some will still be happy to eventually get it. There are a lot of improvements especially with stability of the application and better thread management, but also a few new features which I will describe in the project description.

The code was almost entirely rewritten so it obviously still requires testing. More information in SBS1 Utilities.

Old utilities no longer supported, new coming on Friday

I have recently received a few email with questions about the sbs-utilities. I would like to announce that old utilities are no longer supported so please do not send questions about them.

I am currently working on a short document with parameter description and usage information for the new utilities. Once this ready, I will publish the new tools. This is planned for Friday ( 22.01.2010 ).

Update 1:

I need a few more days, sorry.. I've been busy with other stuff.

Update 2:

I have fixed two more bugs, testing it right now.. If nothing goes wrong I will publish the Linux build tomorrow ( 2010-02-03 ) and the documentation will be added later.

New version of SBS-1 utils coming soon

It's been a while since I released the first beta version of the utils so it's time for some update. This update will mainly focus on sbs1tcp and it will finally bring TCP30003 compatibility mode. Also the current custom data feed will be more stable and reliable. I am planning to release the new version on Monday 13th of October 2008. If you have noticed any strange behavior of the currently released tools please report it here so that I can try to fix it.

SBS1 Utils beta version available

It's been a long time since I promised to release it and some of you might just given up waiting, but I guess there are still at least a few people interested in this project. It's still beta version and there surely are some bugs left, but feel free to play with it and send reports in case you spot some strange behaviour. More information about the project is available in the Projects-SBS1 Utils section.

A request: I've been receiving quite a lot of emails regarding SBS-1 related stuff.. It might happend I haven't replied to all of you. In that case please send your email again and I will do my best to reply asap.

A note on the delay and beta version availability

As you might have noticed the release got somehow delayed. I have come across some unexpected frames I thought the box itself would take care of. This is partly malformed messages and as a result of that fake planes detected by the system. Right now I am waiting for some more ICAO documents which will clear things up for me and hopefully with them I will be able to fix it.
