Yet another update on SBS1 for Linux/Mac

This is the last progress update before beta version release in July. I'm finally done with data decoding, but I am not done with my exams yet :/ This week is going to be tough, then my friend's wedding and on Monday 30th June I should finally be free to code again :) What's left to be done is TCP 30003 compatible output and some stability tests.

Update on SBS1 for NSLU2 Linux

Today I've successfully built and run a testing version of SBS-1 software for NSLU2 Linux (SlugOS LE). It's been working non stop for more than 4 hours now and the CPU usage is below 2.5% (266MHz ARM CPU). This leaves plenty of room for other tasks as web data visualisation and/or data sharing!

Update on SBS1 for Mac and Linux

It's been quite a few weeks since the last post so it's time for updates. During the past few weeks I haven't had much time for SBS1 as I've been working on my university projects + some tasks I had been postponing since I don't know when :/ I am still working on decoding the RAW data, aircrafts' positions in particular. AC positions are encoded using CPR ( Compact Position Reporting ) which was not mentioned in the ICAO Annex 10. Luckily doing some Googling I was able to find the necessary docs ( 174+ pages ) and now I will be able to decode it finally :)

Real time patch for BaseStation .130

In the meantime, while you're waiting for the standalone application to get data from sbs1 box, I've prepared a patch for the latest version of BaseStation .130. You will find the download link in the Projects > SBS1 Real Time section.

SBS1 under Linux and Mac OS X

Maybe there ain't too many SBS1 owners who'd like to use their boxes under Linux or OS X, but still I think I'm not the only one. This is why I started reverse engineering the BaseStation application and protocol to make an equivalent piece of software that would work *natively* under other operating systems.

SBS1 Real Time Patch

I guess I wasn't the only one who was disappointed by the 5 minute delay Kinetic Avionics had to install in their SBS1 Radar Box. Sure it was just the 3rd party applications that suffered from this, but for me it was the only way I could use the app. Luckily I've found a way to get rid of it :)
