Old utilities no longer supported, new coming on Friday
I have recently received a few email with questions about the sbs-utilities. I would like to announce that old utilities are no longer supported so please do not send questions about them.
I am currently working on a short document with parameter description and usage information for the new utilities. Once this ready, I will publish the new tools. This is planned for Friday ( 22.01.2010 ).
Update 1:
I need a few more days, sorry.. I've been busy with other stuff.
Update 2:
I have fixed two more bugs, testing it right now.. If nothing goes wrong I will publish the Linux build tomorrow ( 2010-02-03 ) and the documentation will be added later.
SBS1RT patch no longer needed, KA removes the delay!
On November 16th Kinetic Avionic released a new build of Basestation (1.2.3.145) software which removes the 5 minute delay. I'm glad this finally happened as there was absolutely no sense in that. You didn't even have to patch the application with my utility to get a real time feed, you could also override some WinAPI calls and get the data. Anyway, this means there will be no RT patches for SBS-1 but we are still unsure about ANRB.
A little update of the ANRB Patch
There's a new version of the ANRB Patch available. In the previous version there was an unnecessary menu item created, this no longer happens. Additionally, in certain conditions, the "Share Flight Data" check box might stay checked even though the sharing was in fact disabled. The problem was that the settings was loaded the first time a connection attempt was made. I have missed that as I can only use the application in the Demo mode ( no receiver available for testing )
SBS1RT patch updated to .143, ANRB patch
It's been a while since I last posted an update here, but don't worry, I am still alive. I've been rather busy during the last year with my thesis as well as a couple of different things so I haven't had much time to accomplish what I had promised a long time ago. But the updates are coming really soon. Most part of the code was rewritten from scratch to make it more stable and robust. One of the new features is the ability to connect to multiple receivers and merge their data into one stream which can later be used by BaseStation or the application itself.
Meanwhile, you can download the SBS1 Real Time patch updated to the latest BS version .143 as well as the new AirNav RadarBox. You will find both in the projects menu.
New version of SBS-1 utils coming soon
It's been a while since I released the first beta version of the utils so it's time for some update. This update will mainly focus on sbs1tcp and it will finally bring TCP30003 compatibility mode. Also the current custom data feed will be more stable and reliable. I am planning to release the new version on Monday 13th of October 2008. If you have noticed any strange behavior of the currently released tools please report it here so that I can try to fix it.
SBS1 Utils beta version available
It's been a long time since I promised to release it and some of you might just given up waiting, but I guess there are still at least a few people interested in this project. It's still beta version and there surely are some bugs left, but feel free to play with it and send reports in case you spot some strange behaviour. More information about the project is available in the Projects-SBS1 Utils section.
A request: I've been receiving quite a lot of emails regarding SBS-1 related stuff.. It might happend I haven't replied to all of you. In that case please send your email again and I will do my best to reply asap.
A note on the delay and beta version availability
As you might have noticed the release got somehow delayed. I have come across some unexpected frames I thought the box itself would take care of. This is partly malformed messages and as a result of that fake planes detected by the system. Right now I am waiting for some more ICAO documents which will clear things up for me and hopefully with them I will be able to fix it.
Yet another update on SBS1 for Linux/Mac
This is the last progress update before beta version release in July. I'm finally done with data decoding, but I am not done with my exams yet :/ This week is going to be tough, then my friend's wedding and on Monday 30th June I should finally be free to code again :) What's left to be done is TCP 30003 compatible output and some stability tests.
